You have probably heard a lot of very compelling reasons to get your CE out of the way early, but there are actually some reasons why you may want to put it off until the last minute.
Your Schedule Rarely Changes
There is no need to finish your CE early if your schedule rarely changes! If you are the type of agent that never, for example, has last-minute inspections pop up that you have to go to, then there is no reason for you to get your CE out of the way early!
On the contrary, if you are the type of person that sometimes has last-minute schedule changes, signing up for your CE early will give you more options if you need to switch to a later date.
If you wait until June 9th to do your CE, and something comes up, you're out of luck until July 1st. The NC Real Estate Commission does not allow any Real Estate School to offer CE from June 11th until June 30th.
You Are Always on Time
Did you know that you are only allowed to miss 24 minutes of a CE class. Any more than that and we cannot give you credit for the course, per REC rules.
If you are always on time, don't worry about it, but if you sometimes run a little late you may want to schedule your CE early. This way if you miss more than 24 minutes of the course, you will have more options if you need to switch to a later date.
You Don't Need the Full 30 Days to Complete Your Self Paced Elective
We are sure that you know that the REC only allows you 30 days to complete your Self Paced Elective CE Course once you purchase it, but what you may not know is that you actually only have a full 30 days if you purchase your course before May 11. Your course must be completed before Midnight on June 10.
So you have 30 days or until June 10th to finish it, whichever is sooner.
With that being said, if you would like to start your self paced elective at 8PM on June 10, more power to you, but if you think you might want to take your time going through the course, don't wait to get started!

Your Internet Connection and Power NEVER Goes Out
If you are the type of person that has a backup generator for your backup generator, then you are probably safe to wait until the last minute. If your power occasionally goes out, or maybe your WiFi is a little laggy with you, your spouse, and your 3 kids all on Zoom at the same time, then you might want to complete your CE early.
If you miss more than 24 minutes of your CE course, even for Power or Internet Connectivity issues, we are not able to give you credit for that course. If you find yourself in this situation, then you will have limited options to reschedule your course if you are taking your CE class late in the cycle.

You Don't Care Which Elective Class You Take
If you are the type of person that couldn't care less what elective class you take, then you will be just fine waiting until the last minute. Just take whatever is available and you'll be all set.
On the flip side, if you are the type of agent that doesn't like to repeat Elective Courses and likes to learn more about different aspects of our field each year, then signing up for your CE classes early will give you the most options of classes to choose from.
