Course Objectives

The course focuses on several key areas of real estate brokerage:

  3. Broker Functions & Responsibilities: A step-by-step review and discussion of the functions and responsibilities of a real estate broker when working with property owners and buyers/tenants.

  4. Brokerage Transition: A review of issues associated with transactions in progress when a broker leaves a brokerage company.

  5. License Status & Education Issues: A review of selected license status and education issues.

Course Structure

The course is divided into six sections, with the majority of the time spent on working with residential and commercial sellers. The sections are as follows:

  1. Agency Relationships & Duties: A Practical Review (5 hours)

  2. Working With Residential & Commercial Sellers (16.25 hours)

  3. Working With Residential & Commercial Buyers (5 hours)

  4. Working as a Dual Agent (1 hour)

  5. Working in Residential & Commercial Property Management (1 hour)

  6. Other Topics (0.75 hours)

The course concludes with a closed-book, proctored end-of-course examination.

Course Materials

Students are required to have the current editions of the North Carolina Real Estate Manual, North Carolina Real Estate License Law and Commission Rules, and the Commission’s Residential Square Footage Guidelines booklet.

This course is a must for any aspiring real estate broker in North Carolina looking to deepen their understanding of broker relationships and responsibilities. This course, along with Post 302 and 303, must be completed within 18 Months of receiving a provisional broker license in NC.
